Brians American Eatery
1451 Washington St, San Diego, La Presa,
I cannot believe the treatment that I received at this restaurant for a glass of tea. I went into Brian???s 2/26/08 and met with some people. There were three of us. Two ordered iced tea and one ordered water. We spent about 30 to 45 minutes there and then left. When I went to pay, I was shocked to find out that the two glasses of tea were $7.00. I could by a box of tea for that price. When I asked if the ticket was right, told me yes. Then also replied with ???Didn???t I realize that prices have gone up 10 to 20 cents everywhere???. They did not give me this extra tidbit in a polite informational manner either, very snide and rude. I brushed off the rudeness and attributed it to having a bad day. I was about to enter my car when the same short, stubby, bad mustache wearing thang came up to me and asked if there was something wrong with the service. I replied no. He then proceeded to tell me that I didn???t leave a tip and I replied that is my option and don???t have to leave a tip. He replied by telling me that I don???t have to come back!!!???!! What a way to win over repeat business. I have many friends in the food industry and generally always tip and excessively. This instance in my mind did not warrant the 80-cent tip. For this man to tell me not to come back was certainly an error. THE FOOD IS OVERPRICED AND OF POOR QUALITY!! I will make certain that I do not return and will pass on my experience to all I meet.

Claim Jumper
5500 Grossmont Center Dr, La Mesa, La Presa,
I'm going with 3 stars because (1) they have a good chicken fried steak, (2) while you wait for a table beepers are provided and you can visit the bar in back with the beeper in hand and (3) the decor is rustic. The Claim Jumper staff needs some serious training. Mostly it is an attitude problem but it's spilling over into poor service. Claim Jumper management should remind them of these things: (1) Greet me as I enter the restaurant: you need to smile and actually be pleased to see a paying customer. (2) Grooming: wear clean wrinkle-free modest clothes. (3) Wear your name badge, say your name clearly and honestly make me comfortable. (4) "I'll be your server tonight." Smile. Let your face tell me you are happy to be an employee and offering me service. (5) Be sure I have napkins, silverware and a menu. (6) "Can I get you something to drink while you look over the menu?" Take the drink order and then get the drinks to the table QUICKLY. (7) Help me with the ordering process, smile, repeat back the order and put the order into the kitchen immediately. (8) Deliver the orders to the right person. (9) Be alert and available. (10) Don't draw hearts on the bill; smile when you present it. (11) Tell me THANK YOU and mean it! (12) Thank me for coming as I leave.

Love's Bbq & Grill
89 Bonita Rd, Chula Vista, La Presa,
My family and I have been eating here since I was a child. I can still remember them having a smoking and non-smoking section. Very family friendly, inexpensive and delicious. One of a kind barbeque sauce available by the bottle in three different styles: mild, medium and hot. Great atmosphere and worth every penny.
