Danny's Restaurant
4402 San Bernardo Ave, Laredo, Ranchos Penitas West,
My experience at Danny's have been the best the food is great and the drinks are awsome... I tasted the Cubana and it was great...the parrilladas are the best here in Laredo (in my opinion) I tasted several from other restaurants and none like the one in Dannys. The only thing missing is Live Music mexican music that is not a Trio but like Mariachi...lily

Texas Roadhouse
1155 S Il-51, Forsyth, Newburg,
If you have to have a good steak and aren't in the mood to grill it yourself, go to Texas Roadhouse. . .it can't be beat. But brace yourself for near no-service and rude attitude from the young college help this venue seems to want to employ for its' wait personnel. The 45 - 50 minute wait would be well-worth it if the service was halfway better, but we weren't even through with our meal and had yet to decide on our dessert when the waitress came and said "I need this table NOW!!!" You betcha I didn't leave her a tip. Better yet, stay home and grill your own steak. . .

The Brown Bag Deli Restaurant
212 W Washington St, Monticello, Newburg,
We were in town for railroad days at the museum and took the train into the downtown area.We wanted to eat lightly but not any fast food.My girlfriend found the brown bag deli as i was looking somewhere else. We went in and i ordered there monster nachos and my girl got a bean burrito. The nachos was loaded with meat & cheese and it was big.My girlfriend liked the burrito and said it hit the spot. This was more of a deli style place and they had lots of homemade sandwiches on there menu.My girlfriend really like there pies also and they had quite a variety in the case.If your looking for a real good lunch while your in the downtown area this is the place.

Dory's Oar Restaurant
1041 Fremont Ave, South Lake Tahoe, Echo Lake,
The restaurant is in transition. But we weren't informed until we tried ordering seafood that is on the website menu and on the printed menues only to be told that the restaurant's only seafood was battered fried prawns as an appetizer. My husband had called in the morning to make a reservation and was told that it wasn't necessary. We were very surprised when we entered the restaurant to see a party of 20 , a party of 15, and the back room was occupied by a wedding party. This left 3 deuce tables along the windows. The restaurant is very stark, absolutely no ambiance. I will go back in one month to see what the transition has brought. I have enjoyed seafood dinners here over many years and hope the new owner doesn't make a drastic transition.

Carrows Restaurant
2397 Lake Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, Echo Lake,
You don't want to go to this restaurant. The food is even worse than typical for a Carrows. The service is the worst I've ever seen. Some examples: a grey slab of prime rib, clearly boiled to death, and splattered with dusty "cajun" powder, even though I didn't order it. Look at the Carrows commercial on TV or the Web and you'll see what prime rib should look like. A waiter who didn't so much as set foot in a row packed with seated customers for ten minutes. He just vanished. As he twaddled, the cooks put up six dishes that just sat on the counter. When the waiter finally returned to the kitchen, the first thing he did was touch his nose. There's sanitary behavior for you! I love this guy. He blamed the cooks for everything. Zero sense of customer service. I at first thought I might have offended him by having a small child with me (who complained loudly and frequently, expressing what everyone else in the restaurant thought but was too polite to say), but I must say, to his credit, our waiter was an equal opportunity idiot, treating all with the same lack of respect. What a guy. He did have an idea about customer service, but it was foreign to me (which is strange, because this guy was clearly a local Californian). He offered to put whipped cream on my baked potato. Not typical in an American restaurant. Maybe in Prague? Not on a cheap, undressed potato that looked like it just spent the last six minutes of its existence in a microwave. I got a 10% discount because I was a guest at the neighboring Motel 6 (which at least is a decent place to stay). I was tempted to withhold any tip, but I decided to give the 10% back, acknowledging that's how the waiter makes a living, and maybe I just came on a bad night. Nevertheless, I warn you off of this place.
