Bestseller Bookstore is the Long Island HUB stop for readers of writers of color. A great selection of current books by African-American, Caribbean and African authors and many classics. Bookbuyers
317 Castro St, Mountain View, Mountain View,
This bookstore should seriously consider changing their name, Don't get me wrong that they are a very good store to buy used books, CDs, and next year's calendars. But when it comes to selling your old books to them, this is where they are at the worst. They will look at your books that you sell to them and determine whether they can sell your books or not. Well, they refused to sell even one of my old books and each book that they saw was in good to excellent condition. I was very disappointed and will never sell my books to them. I probably will think twice about returning to their store. I rather go to Books Inc. next door instead.

Barnes & Noble Booksellers
14010 N Highway 183, Austin, Leander,
"My" Barnes and Noble is by far the best place to go if you are looking for a good book and a nice place to read. The people there are so knowledgeable and are always willing to help me find just the book I am looking for ( even if I am not sure myself). It is big enough to carry tons of title and small enough to be personal and homey. I almost always visit their cafe and treat myself to something to drink. Their cafe staff is beyond compare. They are always on top of their game and always come with a smile and a friendly suggestion of some yummy confection to accompany my beverage. I can't say enough good things about Barnes and Noble--but especially "my" B&N.

Creekside Books and Coffee
35 Fennell St, Skaneateles, Port Byron,
I love finally having a REAL bookstore in Skaneateles. My family loves to read and we used to spend far too much time traipsing off to Syracuse for a book. Creekside is not only a great bookstore, but they have good coffee and there is always some form of entertainment or event going on there. Check it out if you haven't been there yet.

Hue-Man Bookstore & Cafe
2319 Frederick Douglass Blvd, New York, Cliffside Park,
I enjoy Hue-Man bookstore because I feel at home when I enter. It feels good to go into a bookstore where the books for people of color don't have a section, instead they permeate the entire store. The cafe at Hue-Man has great food and drinks and you may be greeted with a wonderful array of world music floating though the air. There are little areas where you can browse books and not be disturbed. Plus, the kinds of events that Hue-Man attracts are amazing. You must check out the events calendar.

Midtown Comics
200 W 40th St, #2, New York, Cliffside Park,
A great place for everyone from die hard comic enthusiasts to the curious tourist, Midtown Comics is not clique-ish and no one is there to judge you. Single comics, graphic novels, mangas, posters, busts, action figures, T-shirts, all things classic and brand new... the store has got it all. There's no pressure to buy anything either, the friendly staff can help if you're looking for something in particular, but if you're just browsing... well then, that's okay too. Everything is reasonably priced and the store itself is remarkably clean. Best of all, it's not out of the way; you have a train station and a McDonald's near by, not to mention the entire contents of Times Square.
