Smokin Al's BBQ

My husband and I stopped by there for dinner tonight and we really had a great meal. The pulled pork sandwich with the Wolf sauce was excellent. Their potato salad and baked bean were great too. Will be going back there again soon!!

I'm amazed at the reviews I've read. I've been going to Penny's for ages, including when it was a little hole in the wall bar on Lemay Ferry Road. I can't recall ever having a bad meal there. I've never been unhappy with the salad, although it's not quite as big as it was a few years back. The cucumbers and onions are really good. I generally get pork steak or pork chops, no complaints. My dad gets a huge hamburger with mushrooms, and has half left for the next day's lunch. It's as clean as anywhere else in town, and I've never found the staff to be rude...TIRED, but not rude or incompetent. My experience has been that if you glass is getting low, any server walking by will refill it, soda included. To each his own, I guess. I'll be there on Mother's Day with my whole family.

I really have to disagree with the person who claimed that they got food poisoning from eating at Bodie Mike's. There is no way this person could prove that he got food poisoning from eating there. Food borne bacteria or viruses have a 24-72 hour incubation period before any symptoms appear. Without laboratory work the person doesnt even know what the responsible pathogen was or if it could have come from food. I've eaten at Bodie Mike's twice and thought that the food was pretty good and the place was clean. Never had the gratuity added onto my bill. It's a great place to sit on the deck, have a few drinks and watch the traffic go by on highway 395

I will not go back to Slocums again due to their rudness and their policy of "No Separate Checks. Not only will they not give you separate checks on a large party they will not even write up a subtotal for THEIR CUSTOEMRS. Then on top of that they just add on their nice little 17% tip and call it fair. Come on customers, it is time to put our foot down and demand the service we should be getting for the price of our food and their policy of "Adding on gratuity". Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying 17 to 20% for good food and good service, after all I am the customer....... So, if you have a large party don't go there, go to Bergers. They do a great job and give you separate checks.

This is the best Chinese Restaurant in Austin. If you give Din Ho a bad review, you obviously don't know good Chinese food. I'm from the Bay Area, CA, and Din Ho can compare to my favorite Chinese Restaurants from the Bay.
