Goodyear Gainesville Auto Service
7471 Linton Hall Rd, Gainesville, Haymarket,
Ever since we moved to the area I was taking my car there (5 years). For a number of years they were excellent. But service dependability and price has changed. They charge a lot more for labor than other mechanics in the area (i.e. they were almost $100 more than Pep boys on a belt replacement job that was only $140). Yes, they all seem to be nice, and they are. The shuttle is a great service. But they have missed a lot on my car. Once they were doing break work and forgot to reset the emergency brake tension. Had to take it back. Kind of a basic thing to remember in my opinion. Once they recommended a complete tune up service, which includes a fuel injector cleaning, and they performed a fuel system cleaning about 500 miles prior. Had I not caught that, I would have had it unecessarily done and paid for it twice. Once they also gave me about a quart too much oil, which I didn't notice until I started leaking oil about 200 miles after they changed it (which they said isn't what caused the leak - I don't believe it). I added some oil and took it in. They said they found the source of the leak (which it wasn't) and said I was running low and told the mechanic to top off the oil for me. I thought they were being nice. But when I paid for the other service I noticed that they charged me for a quart of oil! Had I known they were going to charge me I would have said no. To make matters worse, when I got home I checked the dipstick and guess what - yes, they put too much oil in it again! I would only go to them for insepctions now. A once loyal customer has gone in search of another good mechanic. Simply too many problems to overlook.
